News: EA Announces Grand Slam Tennis For Wii

EA Sports have finally announced their anticipated tennis game for the Wii, which is set to take advantage of Wii MotionPlus.

Grand Slam Tennis for Wii is the first tennis game from EA to use the Wii Remote-enhancing MotionPlus sttachment to offer you "the deepest tennis experience ever for the Wii", or so they say. With your custom created character, go for the kill and conquer the four bi-tournaments in Grand Slam career mode.

You will be able to put your Wii Motion Plus racquet skills to test against tennis' biggest stars and legends and in famous courts like Wimbledon's Centre Court. Following the announcement that EA's Tiger Woods 2010 will be utilising MotionPlus to provide more realistic swinging motions, this will be EA's second game confirmed to make use of the new peripheral.

More news as we get it, sports fans.

Update: Hot on the heels of the announcement, EA have put up the official Grand Slam Tennis website. It's a bit barebones at the moment with only a few snippets of info, some character artwork showing off the game's unique style and the first blog post of the game's producer Thomas Singleton.

"There are so many games within the game - serving, net play, even arguing with the umpire!" reveals the producer enthusiastically.

The game scheduled for a June 18th US release and you check out the website here.
