News: EA Claims Wii U Will Help Reimagine Games

EA Play's Jeff Karp talks about the importance of Nintendo's newest console.

EA Play is responsible for the more "fun" and "social" titles such as The Sims, Harry Potter and BOOM BLOX. MCV has spoken to EA Play's VP Jeff Karp about the division, its games and plans for the future.

During the discussion MCV asked Mr. Karp about EA's very public backing of the Wii U during Nintendo's E3 presentation and what the company had in store. He notes that in the past studios have had trouble doing well on Nintendo consoles but they are looking to change this and hope the Wii U will be a big step for them. Jeff Karp also notes that development on Wii U is more similar to other consoles and while they will be creating unique experiences for the console this parallelism helps.

Mr. Karp seems to feel that the Wii U will be great for his division, and the company as a whole, claiming: "I think Wii U is going to expand the opportunities for all games to be reimagined, especially the products at EA Play, and really extend our audience." It is certainly encouraging to see one of the world's biggest studios so enthusiastic about the console.
