News: EA Has Faith in Music Games

EA Games has stated that music games will have a resurgence but they're not sure when.

John Riccitiello, CEO of Electronic Arts, told Kotaku that he believes that music games will have a resurgence. Their popularity spiked a number of years ago but Mr. Riccitiello believes that their day could come again.

"I think the music genre is going to recover. I don't know exactly how. It could be based on some new innovation. Maybe it all becomes dance-based."

Mr. Riccitiello's comments may not be too far off as Ubisoft's Just Dance 2 has quickly become one of the biggest selling titles of the year. For now, however, EA's studio Harmonix Music Systems, who work on Rock Band, are focusing on music.

Referring to a misquoted comment he made recently John Riccitiello stated that he has a lot of faith in Harmonix, even though they were recently put up for sale by parent company Viacom. While he stated that he has a lot of respect for the company he would not state if EA are interested in purchasing them, simply stating instead he believes they will find a purchaser.
