EA's John Riccitiello says the Wii U "transcends" anything else he has worked on in the past.
During Nintendo's E3 presentation EA's CEO John Riccitiello demonstrated what they'd like to do with the new Wii U console and Industry Gamers has spoken to Mr. Riccitiello about what has got him most excited.
The CEO states that while he enjoys motion input such as Move he's more of a fan of traditional buttons and that its one of the reasons he likes the Wii U. The inclusion of a second screen in the controller also seems to have really interested Mr. Riccitiello, something he says "transcends anything I've ever done before".
He then gives examples of how he thinks it could be used to improve gaming. He cites drawing a pass pattern in Madden or ordering an air strike in an FPS as two such examples. His words seem to suggest that this is more than simply company rhetoric but rather personal enthusiasm:
"I always find it breaks the spell for me when I'm playing a game with a squad and I have to stop the action and move up for them. Now I can just move them down here [on the tablet]. I think there's something really powerful about a second screen that I think really matters. I think we're just beginning to realize what we can do with it and I think it's obvious we can do a lot with it."
Hopefully EA will be able to commit to their words and supply a great range of content on Wii U when it launches next year.
