News: Earthworm Jim & Indiana Jones Launch Fri

Nice and early for you this week, here's your Virtual Console, WiiWare and DSiWare releases for Friday...

Log onto the Wii Shop Channel this week and you'll see it's seen a slight update of sorts - weekly recommendation lists which will suggest titles of a certain theme - retro-style classics on WiiWare, games suited for the whole family, etc. Also new on the Channel this week:

Earthworm Jim (DSiWare): originally released on the SNES, the game has been carefully remastered for the DSiWare. This version also features facial-expression-based challenges that track your face using the DSi camera, and costs just 500 Points.

Flipper (DSiWare): created and programmed by a one man-studio, this platformer sees you helping a courageous young boy complete levels to rescue his pet goldfish. It also clocks in as just 500 Points. Here's a quick trailer:

My Postcards (DSiWare): Create, customise and send greetings cards using the DSi camera. From developers Nnooo, it costs just 200 Points.

Game & Watch (DSiWare): Three more ancient Game & Watch titles for the DSiWare service this week, all 200 Points each:

  • GAME & WATCH: BALL - the first Game & Watch ever to be produced, where you must juggle balls in the air.
  • GAME & WATCH: FLAGMAN - tests your memory and reflexes remembering a sequence of numbers
  • GAME & WATCH: DONKEY KONG JR - you play as DK Jr., rescuing your Dad from the evil Mario by collecting keys to unlock his cage.

Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures (Virtual Console): On the Wii this week comes more retro nostalgia with this Indy title, originally on the SNES. This title combines the best of the original movie trilogy all for just 800 Points. Ride mine trains! Get chased by giant boulders! It's all here.

The Will of Dr. Frankenstein (WiiWare): an adventure title which sees you playing as the grandson of the titular doctor, helping him collect parts for a mysterious new machine... It's out now for just 500 Points.
