Electronic Boutique UK shareholders yesterday approved the name change of the company to THE GAME GROUP PLC according to a report on The Register, with the name change taking effect within three working days.

Electronics Boutique announced plans to change its name to GAME in January this year. The high street giant owns the GAME name through an acquisition in 1999, prior to this the group of stores were rivals to EB. In addition all EBUK stores are set to get a GAME makeover.

Last week, EBUK announced its intention legally terminate a services agreement with Electronics Boutique Inc., of America, which sees the company pay one per cent of turnover to its US namesake.
