News: Eiji Aonuma Interviewed About Skyward Sword

Noted Zelda producer provides some more information about this year's most anticipated game.

We have no doubt that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is on a lot of gamer's must buy lists and is sure to be a huge success when it is released later this year. Eiji Aonuma, who has worked on many Zelda titles, sat down with the magazine Nintendo Power to discuss the title and what fans can expect. Along the way he provides some new information and of course some of that includes spoilers so anyone wishing to avoid this would be best to leave right now.

Nintendo is keen to make Skyward Sword a brand new experience for fans of the series in a number of ways. In Skyward Sword Link must use a harp, the same one Sheik uses in Ocarina of Time, but rather than hitting notes you must strum the harp using the MotionPlus controller. Speaking of music Mr. Aonuma states that the game doesn't have a fully orchestrated soundtrack but many songs are orchestrated.

Eiji Aonuma confirms that Ganon will not be appearing in Skyward Sword, instead the main villain will be Ghirahim who has already been show quite often. While he still has a menacing presence like Ganon he is very much different and according to Mr. Aonuma Nintendo wanted players to think "I don't really know what to make of this somewhat terrifying character," and so far it seems to be working.

The birds seen so far aren't just for racing at the start, they will in fact be used for accessing different areas. Just like in Wind Waker and Spirit Tracks you don't just use the transport to get from A to B, many things can happen between. He doesn't give any specific details but we expect to find out more in the coming months.
