News: Epic Mickey 2 Officially Announced

Warren Spector's follow-up looks to be even more ambitious than the original...

It's been something of an open secret for a while now, but Disney and Warren Spector have confirmed the development of Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.

The sequel looks to be a fairly safe follow-on from 2010's commercially-successful Epic Mickey , with the eponymous hero, alongside loveable Disney outcast Oswald the Rabbit, returning to the Wasteland to explore new realms devastated by disasters..

Junction Point Studios is developing once again, with the number of people involved in the project said to be close to a whopping 700. There seem to be two main focuses for the sequel. One is the inclusion of a full drop-in/drop-out co-op mode, with the second player taking up the role of Oswald. The other is the integration of a musical element to the story. Original tracks by Jim Dooley and Mike Himelstein play big roles in the game.

Spector also specifically cited the camera system as an area that has received considerable attention after feedback from the first game.

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is due out this year. Platforms announced at the moment are Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3.
