News: Epic Mickey 2 Wii is Lead Version

Junction Point Studios developing the Wii game alone...

Despite Epic Mickey 2 stretching out into multi-platform territory, it looks like Warren Spector is keeping the game close to its roots, with it being revealed that the lead platform for the game remains Wii.

Spector told Joystiq that a core team of "about 160 people" at Junction Point Studios is working on Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.

The studio is essentially concentrating on developing a Wii game, with confirmation that UK developer Blitz Games will be handing the HD port to Xbox 360 and PS3. Blitz Games has recently developed The Biggest Loser Challenge and the Puss in Boots video game.

Epic Mickey was a natural fit on Wii, with the IR pointer being put to good use with the brush mechanic of the game. It looks like that feature will carry over to the sequel.

It had also been revealed that a separate game, Epic Mickey 2: Power of Illusion, was being developed for 3DS by Dreamrift.
