News: Eternity's Child Slips From XBLA to Wii/DS

The Xbox Live Arcade title Eternity's Child is cancelled, and both a Wii and DS version is announced...

Developer Luc Bernard has announced that the Xbox Live Arcade title Eternity's Child will now instead be a full, retail Wii game. He has also announced a seperate DS game from the same franchise.

The Xbox Live Arcade version has been scrapped due to the filesize limit set by Microsoft, and Luc Bernard, the creator of the franchise, has decided to make the game for Wii instead.

Eternity's Child takes place on a fictional planet inhabited by many sentient creatures. However, due to pollution, the ice caps of the planet melted and a massive flood made many species extinct. Only winged animals were left largely unaffected by the flood. The land creatures decided to repopulate the world with robots (which then went haywire, as always happens). On top of this, the land animals were very racist towards all winged creatures. Eternity's Child follows the story of Angel, and orphan who had his wings cut off to protect him from being murdered. He grew up in an orphanage and wasn't accepted by anyone. After escaping the orphanage, Angel heads on a quest to find his people.

The Wii version of Eternity's Child is a traditional 2D platformer. Everything in the game was hand drawn and animated, much like traditional Disney films. Also like Disney films, Eternity's Child will feature both an orchestrated soundtrack and songs. Eternity's Child will also have a 2-player co-op mode. The game will use the functions of the Wii remote, but only for small things.

Luc Bernard is also working on a DS version of Eternity's Child, which will follow a different part of Angel's story, and will be a 3D platformer. Luc Bernard is also planning a "fairy tale for adults" called The Pink Princess, and it will be a 3D adventure on as many platforms as possible
