News: European DS Vs. PSP Sales Figures

New figures reveal Nintendo is leading the sales race in Europe by over a million units! Detailed numbers inside...

It is widely known that in Japan, the DS rules all (except when out of stock...) In America meanwhile, the sales figures of both consoles are almost level. And in Europe... well, these new figures may pleasantly suprise you.

Nintendo leads in all major countries in Europe - in the UK, the DS has sold over one million units, with the PSP lagging with 795,000 sold. In France it is a similar story, with three-quarters of a million DS' sold but only half a million PSPs. In Germany, 520,000 DS units have been sold through compared with 350,000 PSPs, and in Spain the figures are 425,000 and 295,000 for the DS and PSP respectively. All other regions lumped together, the DS sold 1,005,000 elsewhere in the continent, with the PSP only managing 500,000.

While still healthy figures for both consoles, it is clear the DS is currently well ahead in sales. The total European figures to date then are 3,700,000 for the DS, and 2,440,000 for the PSP. It's important to remember the PSP did launch six months later than the DS, however as Reggie said: if the PSP is late being released in Europe, it's "not our problem."
