Germany is to host a production of video game music later this year.
The 2004 mainland Games Convention, held on the 18th of August in Leipzig, Germany, will feature a musical performance of a number of familiar and popular games themes and soundtracks.
This is the second time that such a concert will be performed at the venue, as it was apparently a big success last year as video game music from the United States, Europe and Japan was performed together for the first time. Andy Brick will again conduct the performance which is to be given by the FILMharmonic Orchestra from Prague.
However, this year the organisers of the event are aiming for a more varied and diverse programme of music from the concert. They plan for it to include classical music as well as the obligatory games music. Furthermore, there will be a performance from the acclaimed Japanese piano virtuoso Seiji Honda -famous in the world of video games for his extensive and faithful work on the Final Fantasy VII Piano Collection.
Faithful readers of Cube-Europe will also remember that there is to be a performance of Final Fantasy music in Los Angeles later this year. This European performance should, however, be more accessible to our readership!
