An event invitation from Nintendo has led many to believe that launch details of the 3DS will be announced although this has not been confirmed.

When the press received an email from Nintendo of Europe informing them to keep January 19th free this morning many outlets began exclaiming that the launch details for the 3DS will be released. However, while the 3DS is due out in just a few months there is absolutely no guarantee that this event will be focused on it.

Nintendo has not released any more details about the Amsterdam-based event so until they do it is probably best not to get too excited as it may turn out to not be about the 3DS at all. Don't forget that last month Nintendo were listed as attending CES and many assumed it was to show off the 3DS but Nintendo later denied this.
