It's an action-packed week for retro gamers with the addition of Space Invaders, Forgotten Worlds and Metal Slug 2 to the Virtual Console in Europe.
It's Virtual Console week in Europe, and this time Nintendo have unleashed an alien invasion upon unsuspecting gamers with a trio of titles which are out of this world.
First up is Space Invaders: The Original Game, originally released on the SNES in 1994. In this 'perfect recreation' of Taito's 1978 arcade hit, you take control of a lone laser turret as you try to fend off a relentless alien invasion and prevent the intergalactic fiends from reaching the bottom of the screen. You can buy it now for just 800 Wii Points.
"Instead of shooting where I was, you should have shot where I was going to be!"
Capcom's 1989 side-scrolling shooter, Forgotten Worlds on the SEGA Mega Drive, is next on the menu. As a stereotypical steroid-pumped super soldier mercenary, you'll embark on a mission to an alien world to shoot anything that moves. Muscular UFO punching is just 800 Wii Points away.
Lastly we have Metal Slug 2, released for the Neo Geo in 1998 (and on the Wii last year in the retail compilation, Metal Slug Anthology). The maniacal General Morden is back from the first game with a vengeance, and has teamed up with an alien horde to take over the world. Once again, an overly-muscular super soldier with a gun should do the trick. It's yours for 900 Wii Points.
Be sure to check back on N-Europe over the next few days for VC Weekly #81 and reviews of all three of these titles.
