Moments ago, Nintendo revealed in their European press conference that the Wii will launch this year in Europe, on December 8th 2006 for a price of �179 or �249. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata took the stage to reveal the news and talk about the DS and Wii in detail, while famous English tennis players Tim Henman and Greg Rusedksi made an appearance to battle it out in a game of WiiSports' Tennis.

The bundle will include a White Wii console, one Wii-mote, one Nunchuck and WiiSports. Software will cost between �34-39, that's �49-59. Additional Wii-motes will cost �29 or �39, while Nunchuks are sold separately at �14/�19 a pop. The Classic Controller will also be available from launch, again for �14/�19.

Launch titles will include Wii Sports and Zelda: Twilight Princess, with WarioWare: Smooth Moves available just after launch. Third-party launch titles will comprise of: Red Steel, Rayman, Need for Speed Carbon, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, Cars, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz and Wii Play (the mini-games package which will come bundled with an extra Wii-mote).

Fifteen Virtual Console games will be available during the launch period, with roughly another five to ten added per month from launch onwards. When purchased, the titles will always be accessible and will become a new Wii Channel on the main screen.
