From out of the blue comes a brand new ExciteBike game - due to release on WiiWare next month!
Well here's one we doubt anyone saw coming. Via the Nintendo Channel, Nintendo of America has revealed a brand new iteration in the cult ExciteBike series, releasing on WiiWare very soon.
ExiteBike: World Rally is the first Bike game since 2000's N64 version of the racer. The new title will feature online play, multiple control options and the staple track-editor.
Check out the first trailer of the game below.
Update: IGN recently posted a hands-on preview of the game; and several new pieces of info have come to light.
- The game runs at 60 frames-per-second.
- You can overtake slow-moving opponents by wheelieing over them.
- Ramming your front tyre into the back of opponents will knock them down, and also cool your engine.
- Race on multiple circuits in locations ranging from London, America, Japan and Mexico.
- Like with Monster Games' Excite Truck, earn higher ranks by performing well in races. Only achieving S, A or B ranks will allow you to progress.
- 2 control options. One has you tapping up and down on the D-pad to change lanes and tilting the Wii Remote to tilt your bike. The other is a straight-up representation of the NES set-up, with the D-pad used to change lanes and tilt your bike.
- There's a new camera angle accessible if you press A. This will switch from the side-on look to a more angled viewpoint; allowing you to see further down the track.
- Replay mode allows you to watch the race you just completed (obviously).
- Create and save your own tracks, then send them to friends.
- Race online with random people or friends (friend codes will be utilised).
ExciteBike: World Rally releases on North American WiiWare on November 6th. Hopefully a European release isn't too long after!
Thanks to Hero of Time for the heads-up!
