News: Exclusive Unity for the GameCube

Cube-Europe confirmed with Lionhead that Jeff Minter (a well known figure in the industry, largely because of excellent work on the Atari Jaguar update to the classic game 'Tempest') and his company, Llamasoft games, have secured funding and developmental support from Peter Molyneaux (yet another industry legend, Populus, Dungeon Keeper, Black and White) and his company, Lionhead Studios. The support is for a GameCube exclusive title currently known as 'Unity'.
Minter himself has supposedly suggested that the game will be an abstract shooter akin to Sega's cult hit REZ, using lightsynths. We are promised a truly original and revolutionary game, the likes of which we haven't seen before. With these people behind it, it may well deliver.
Lionhead confirmed this news and told us that the EDGE magazine, which will be released in two days, will feature the world exclusive of breaking this news with detailed game info and screens. The company also added that the game is still in a early phase of development, but the screens should give us a good idea of what to expect.
Expect the first screens of Unity at Cube-Europe in the very near future!
