Nintendo have signed a deal with TV Tokyo Reed Productions and Dentsu to create an anime series. The series will be called F-Zero: Falcon Tradition.
The anime will be set in the F-Zero's version of 2201 A.D. and follows Captain Falcon, his nemesis Samurai Goroh and other game-based and original characters during many racing adventures. The characters race for money and justice along many tracks featured in the games.
A character called Ryu Suzaku will be the focus of one storyline. After being cryogenically frozen 150 years ago he is after the person who killed him, an infamous person called Zoda.
The anime will feature detailed artwork as well as 3D-rendered racing scenes similar to those in the games. Shigeru Miyamoto and Takaya Imamura (creator of F-Zero) are acting as Editorial Supervisors for the anime series.
The anime starts on Tuesday, October 7 in Japan and will air from 18:30-19:00. F-zero action figures and stationary will also be sold in Japan, made by Bandai and Mitsubishi Pencils, respectively. Pictures can be found below, hosted by Nintendo's Japanese website.
