News: Famicom Music Collectors Edition!

Japanese fans of Nintendos' retro collection are served up a slice of audio nostalgia! With bubblegum!

Following on from last months' announcement of a concert featuring the music of the Final Fantasy games and continuing with the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the original Famicoms launch in Japan, Nintendo have announced a special promotion that is sure to get Japanese gamers humming along to their favourite tunes from yesteryear all over again.

Continuing in line with the festivities surrounding the 20 years of Japanese Famicom -which has also seen the release of the Gameboy Advance "Famicom Mini" line, a series of classic games from the Famicom catalogue available on the modern handheld, Nintendo is to unleash little CD's featuring the music from the following games:

Super Mario Brothers
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Balloon Fight
Wrecking Crew
Ice Climber
Light Gun Series (Duck Hunt, Wild Gunman, Hogan's Alley)
Sports Series (Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Ice Hockey)
ROB set
Legend of Zelda
Nazo no Murasamejo
Metroid
Kid Icarus
Famicom Mukashi Banashi - Onigashima - Part 1
Famicom Mukashi Banashi - Onigashima - Part 2

These CD's will come with a stick of no-doubt-delicious yoghurt flavoured gum and will be priced at the very reasonable 318 yen -that's 3 or 1.50 for the financially unsavvy. Each CD will be 8cm in diameter, which (un) coincidentally is exactly the same size as GameCube Disc. Also printed on the disc will be pixel art and screenshots from the game(s). Unfortunately as the Famicoms' 20th Anniversary is a Japan-Only event, it seems extremely unlikely that these will see the light of day over here.
