A camera-based spinoff to Fatal Frame is coming out on the 3DS.
The horror series Fatal Frame has had a number of iterations on the Nintendo Wii and now the series is getting a spinoff for the Nintendo 3DS. The game, called Spirit Photo, will make use of the console's inbuilt camera according to Famitsu who broke the news of this game's announcement.
Andriasang report that the newest issue of Famitsu unveils Spirit Photo, or Shinrei Shashin as it is known in Japan. The camera is apparently used to take photographs of ghosts and as the game includes a bundled item called an "AR Notebook" there is a chance the title will make use of the console's augmented reality features.
Details about the item are scarce but we do know at least three different game modes exist: AR Story: Zero: Purple Diary, Horror Notebook and Ghost Camera. The first mode sees you trying to solve the mystery behind the Purple Diary, represented by the AR Notebook, while the other modes are more for fun as Horror Notebook contains mini-games and Ghost Camera allows you to take your "spirit picture", one of your face, and pit it against those of other people.
Other details are not known at present but stay tuned for more information. Please note that the included image is from Fatal Frame 2 for the Nintendo Wii.
