Final Fantasy fans are in for a treat, Japan gets Final Fantasy I to VI in the Virtual Console and the rest of the world gets I and IV.

Nintendo of America's Bill Trinen has confirmed at the GDC conference that the Virtual Console will at last provide a home for the Final Fantasy back catalogue.

Japan get the best end of the deal, with Final Fantasy I through VI set to be available soon from the Virtual Console. The US (and presumably Europe) on the other hand will only have the pleasure of playing Final Fantasy I and IV.

Not to worry, there's always the DS and GBA remakes to turn to in these dark times. Square Enix are also preparing to release two new Final Fantasy titles for WiiWare worldwide.
