News: First Details On ASH

Yesterday we reported a new DS RPG from Japanese development studio Mistwalker was on its way. Now, head inside for the first few confirmed details!

Mistwalker Studios is a relatively new development studio, set up by the father of Final Fantasy - Hironobu Sakaguchi. As part of yesterday's huge announcement of games by Famitsu, the studio's new DS RPG was revealed.

Titled ASH, the title is an acronym for "Archaic Sealed Heat", though in development the game was referred to internally as "Team Tactics". The game will boast 3D graphics, as Sakaguchi commented he wanted the game to look as detailed as possible on the DS.

The game's story concerns an ancient flame that was sealed off many years ago. This flame had the power to burn people to ashes, though they could then be revived in the future as their heart and memories would remain.

One of the central characters in the game is Queen Aisha, who finds herself surrounded by the recently risen and still-rising dead. The game centers initially on her understanding and dealing with this situation. Along the way she'll unearth ancient conspiracies and encounter mysterious time-travellers.

The game is currently slated for a vague 2006 release in Japan and will be published by Nintendo.
