It's no longer just the PSP which has harmful software being passed around. The DS now has its first trojan program being spread, which appears as an apparently inconspicuous hentai (Japanese anime porn) viewer.

Unfortunately, when downloaded, the program goes on to delete all the DS firmware loaded on to the system. Meaning with no more games being loaded, no more clock/calender, and certainly no more Pictochat, your DS becomes nothing more than an expensive paperweight.

At the moment, there doesn't seem to be a good remedy if you're infected, so the best advice is just not to download anything suspicious. But since generally only the more experienced users are downloading programs from the internet at the moment, hopefully the bug won't spread too far. It just doesn't tide well for when the system goes publicly online next month...
