Yet more information has been revealed on the indie game rapidly growing in notoriety, along with our first in-game glimpses of the title!
Just days after Polish developer Nibris revealed a ton of info on their upcoming vertical shooter Raid Over the River for the DS (read the previous article here, we've recieved another splurge of tasty tidbits to share with you - along with our first proper look at the title in action.
The title will feature six extensive campaigns taking place in different time dimensions, from ancient Greece, through Europe of WWII, Cold War Soviet Russia, present-day United States, Germany in 2018 and the Japan of unspecified future date. In each of these campaigns there will be a contemporary vehicle and weaponary, including core ammunition, sonic blasters and plasma cannons. You'll also be able to perform special attacks, calling on your wingmen for help, firing intelligent missiles, particle blasters, gravity bombs, or firing a laser attack from a satellite.
A system allowing your vehicle to perform dodges will apparently make it much more manoeuvrable than in other flying shoot-em-ups. Rotation, nose-diving and barrel-rolls will be required to stop you from being shot down. Each of the vehicles will feature a special move allowing you to dodge hostile fire or increase its fire-power.
The innovative system of special attacks will take advantage of the touch screen and microphone offered by the DS - making the controls both convenient and intuitive feeling after only a few moments of play. Buttons will able to be fully configured to the player's design, and voice control can optionally be used to launch special attacks.
Modes of play have been confirmed as the following: Single Player will feature a Story Mode, Arcade, Dogfight and Survival. Multi-player will feature Cooperative play and modes known as "The Raid", "Raid over the Galaxy", and a "Special mode" yet to be revealed. Could this be the online play?
The title is confirmed to feature at least 10 hours of constant gameplay in Story mode. Skill will be needed to manage and conserve fuel and ammunition, along with a strategic approach to the missions. Between stages, cartoon comic interludes will present the story taking place. As you progess through the game, hidden missions, vehicles and bonuses will be unlocked!
Planned to launch in the first half of 2007, take a look at these first screenshots below:
