Sega has revealed the first pieces of info on the "Arthurian-inspired" new Sonic title.

After news hit the internet yesterday that Nintendo Power magazine were showcasing a new Sonic title on their cover, Sega have today spilled the first details on the upcoming Wii exclusive title: Sonic and the Black Knight.

A sequel of sorts in the "Storybook" series of games that began with Sonic and the Secret Rings, this new title brings Sonic into the medieval world of Arthurian legend and offers Sonic and co. the chance to become knights. Armed with a sword, the title is set to feature an "irresistible cast of characters" and missions taking place in "stunning Arthurian-inspired locations".

Possibly most intriguingly, the game has been confirmed for a Spring 2009 release. Will the newly revealed Wii MotionPlus (also to be released in Spring 2009) be utilised for some sword-swinging action? We'd imagine it won't be long until it is confirmed...
