News: Galaxy Triumphs At Baftas

Everyone's favourite plumber is a surprise victor at this year's video game BAFTAs.

The gaming arm of the prestigious British award ceremony has taken place, and it certainly wasn't a bad showing for Nintendo. While the games which went home with most awards were Call of Duty 4 and Dead Space with three and two gongs respectively, the surprise triumph was Super Mario Galaxy, which picked up the high-profile Game of the Year award.

Another big nod for Nintendo was Professor Layton and the Curious Village walking away with the Handheld Game of the Year award. Other notable winners included Steven Spielberg's Boom Blox picking up Best Casual Game and Spore with Best Technical Achievement.
