News: Game Designers Awards Nominees Announced

Nintendo employee Ryutaro Takahashi receives his first nomination for the Game Designers Award in the Japan Game Awards.

The annual Japan Game Awards are due to take place on the 15th of this month and the nominees for the Game Designers Award have been announced. Nintendo employee Ryutaro Takahashi has been nominated for his work, the first time he has been nominated for this award.

Ryutaro Takahashi has worked on a number of Nintendo titles including the Japan-only Tomodachi Collection, Wii Play and Personal Trainer: Walking / Walk With Me. The winner will be decided by a panel who will all give each qualifying game a score out of ten and whoever has the most points will win. The other nominees are as follows:

  • Kazutoshi Ida (Grasshopper Manufacturer)
  • Jiro Ishii (Level-5)
  • Fumito Ueda (Sony Computer Entertainment)
  • Masayoshi Kikuchi (Sega)
  • Hifumi Kouno (Nude Maker)
  • Masahiro Sakurai (Sora)
  • Ryutaro Takahashi (Nintendo)
  • Hideki Kamiya (Platinum Games)
  • Shuu Takumi (Capcom)
  • Keiichiro Sotoyama (Sony Computer Entertainment)
  • Jin Fujisawa (Square Enix)
  • Shinji Mikami (Tango)

The results are due to be announced on September 15th and we'll let you know if Ryutaro Takahashi wins.
