News: GAME Drops 3DS Price to 196.99

UK retailer GAME has reduced its online price for the 3DS to 196.99.

During January's 3DS event in Amsterdam fans were eager to find out the console's release date and price and while they got the release date Nintendo simply stated that the price would be dictated by retailers. While this caused initial disappointment it may have worked out for the best for gamers as companies keep undercutting prices.

GAME has reduced the price of the 3DS on its website to 196.99, down from its previous price point of 219.99. Anyone who has already pre-ordered the console will be charged at the lower price, even if the price were to go up before release.

They are also offering a trade in price of 190 on the console if it is traded in within the first month according to MCV. However, in order to qualify for this you must have purchased the console online and still be in possession of the packing receipt. If you wish to trade in for cash you will get 180 back, meaning you lose out on just 20 for a month's worth of 3D gaming.

This now means that GAME are currently the cheapest online retailer selling the 3DS but with several weeks left before the console's launch there is a chance another of the big retailers may once again undercut the price.
