News: GAME Lists 'Rogue Squadron' For Wii

Could the popular Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series be making a comeback?

While developer Factor 5 may be in a catatonic state for now, rumours have still persisted concerning their alleged unfinished projects; everything from Kid Icarus to Rogue Squadron on Wii was up for speculation.

Now though, it seems there may have been some concrete developments regarding the latter franchise. Online UK retailer GAME have recently posted a listing on their website for one 'Rogue Squadron' for Wii. The page gives very little information; only giving a release time-frame for April 2010, and stating the publisher as Activision Blizzard, who have had some dabbling in publishing past Star Wars titles in Europe.

Factor 5 were responsible for developing the three Star Wars: Rogue Squadron games which released on Nintendo systems between 1998 to 2003. Some may say the series took a dip in quality over time, but they were all acclaimed for their unprecedented graphics and frenzied, air-combat arcadey action. It's unclear whether Factor 5 had time to develop a fourth in the series before the company hit financial difficulty, or whether this could simply be a Wii-make of the three released titles.

Of course, that's assuming this listing is a confirmation of a real game. Retailer listings tend to be pretty reliable, and the bigger the retailer, the more plausible it often is. Having said that, nothing as been officially confirmed at this stage from any party.

We'll bring you any further developments as they happen.
