News: 'Game Zone Live' Dead

Game Zone Live, known as Game Stars Live last year, has been cancelled after only one year due to a lack of interest from the industry.

Sony, Microsoft and Electronic Arts have all shown a lack of interest in Game Zone Live, which has led to the show being cancelled. The original intention was for the event to run in early September in the ExCeL exhibition space in London, alongside a television show.

EGN will still be going ahead however, despite fears that the reason for its success last year was becasue the Game Stars Live event that ran alongside it. EGN will be taking place at a different event this year, but it has not been announced where.

"The cancellation of GameZone Live has no impact on the future of EGN, aside from the location," an ELSPA spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz this afternoon. "The feedback from last year’s inaugural event was incredibly positive and ELSPA is looking forward to building on a successful launch."

"The UK is the gateway the European market and we intend to maintain a strong industry-facing event in London this year," he continued, "specific details of which we’ll be announcing shortly."
