News: GameCube Hardware Sales

New hardware figures from Japan show that for the week ending May 26, Xbox actually outsold GameCube by 2,945 units. Microsoft managed to sale 6,447 consoles, up from a pitiable 834(!!) the week before, while Nintendo sold a piffling 3,502 GameCubes in the same week, down from 5,862 in the previous week.
PS2 looks to be on the slide in Japan also, dropping more than 11,400 machines to 55,764. It looks like the entire gaming market in Japan is slowing down.
In the UK Sony's console is now selling 11,500 a week, and the GameCube 9,500. Xbox is holding steady with around 6,700 sold per week.
If the GameCube sells over 11,000 a week in the UK only, then the console must sell over a 30,000 a week at least through Europe.
Let's hope that sales will pick up soon in Japan. If you want to read opinions on this matter from the Cube-Europe staff, check out our Roundtable #2!
