News: Gamecube Market Share Growth

The Gamecube grew in Europe in February, but not by as much as we could have hoped.

Despite February being a disappointing time for overall console sales, the Gamecube at least managed to make some ground on last years market share figures. Last year the market share of the Cube was at a very low 8% -a testament to the incredibly disappointing Christmas line-up and lack of overall support after a strong start in Europe. This years' figure of 12% shows an increase of 4% overall on last year.

While this is not a mammoth sum compared to the Xbox with 25% market share and the PS2 at a whopping 62%, it is nonetheless good news for the company. And with exclusive high-profile titles like Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles we could certainly see an upsurge in sales and market share as people previously sceptical of the console see new and appealing titles appear.
