Satoru Iwata has suggested that the GameCube and "Revolution" may be on the shelves at the same time, much like the PSOne and PS2.

New consoles seem to be coming along more often then blue moons as of late, but according to Satoru Iwata the "Revolution" may be placed on the shelves alongside the GameCube, rather then completely replacing it.

This idea may be influenced by Sony, where in Japan along several hundred PSOnes are still bought each week.

It is not currently clear whether Nintendo, or anyone for that matter, will continue to make games for it however, or rather the consoles will just still be sold.
