Nintendo lose out as shooters reign supreme. Head inside for the full list of winners...
The annual Golden Joystick Awards were held today, and this year proved to be one big success story for western-developed blockbusters. The voting public also seemed to shun Nintendo, with not one of the Japanese giant's games going home with any awards.
The full list of winners lies below.
Family Game of the Year - LittleBigPlanet (PS3)
Handheld Game of the Year - Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars(DS)
Retailer of the Year - Game
Mobile Game of the Year - Metal Gear Solid: Touch (iPhone)
Nintendo Game of the Year - Call of Duty: World at War (Wii)
Multiplayer Game of the Year - Call of Duty: World at War (PC, 360, PS3, Wii)
Soundtrack of the Year - Guitar Hero: World Tour (360, PS3, Wii, PS2)
Xbox Game of the Year - Gears of War 2 (360)
PC Game of the Year - Fallout 3 (PC)
UK Developer of the Year - Jagex
PlayStation Game of the Year - Killzone 2 (PS3)
Publisher of the Year - Activision Blizzard
Online Game of the Year - Left 4 dead (PC, 360)
One to Watch - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PC, 360, PS3)
Ultimate Game of the Year - Fallout 3 (PC, 360, PS3)
We're not quite sure whether this year's selection of winners is interesting or just grimly predictable. We suspected the public would be typically all over their shooters, but we had no idea the genre would take such prominence. We're particularly surprised that Call of Duty: World at War trumped all other DS and Wii games in the Nintendo category.
But what do you think? A just range of winners? Let us know your thoughts below...
