New event set to take the helm.
News shocked us during the summer that E3 would cease to exist. Many were left disappointed, as this was a bit like cancelling "Christmas For Gamers."
However, from the ashes of E3, a new expo has risen. Named the "Game Pro Expo", it will even take place where the old E3 used to be! However, it will feature, much, much later on in the calender.
Called the Game Pro Expo, the show will be held in the LA Convention Center (E3's old home) on October 18-20, 2007. Members of the Bureau are being told to plan as if they were planning for E3, and that organizers are aiming to match E3 in size, scope, and impact on the Los Angeles economy. The Expo will include trade show, consumer, and game competition components.
E3 renamed, surely? It's great to see that a replacement event has been found, but is this a little too late in the year? Only time will tell.
Apparently, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is backing the new convention, even though they are the ones who decided E3 wasn't necessary, anymore.
The plot thickens.
