News: Grotesque New RPG For WiiWare

WiiWare owners can get their tactical RPG fix this year with the announcement of Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes!

Upstart developer Silent Dreams have pulled the curtain back on their ambitious tactical RPG Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes, which is heading for WiiWare this year.

The game plays like a typical, turbased strategy title, but underneath lies what the developer is promising to be a deep, atmospherical, and at times darkly humourous plot. The main story follows Drake, a depressed, failed military recruit who misses the chance to fight for the kingdom of Glory. However, when Glory falls to an evil sect known as the Dark Church, it's up to Drake to take command of the remaining fighting forces of the kingdom to repel the new threat.

Grotesque Tactics also features a wide range of RPG elements, including treasure-hunting, trading and levelling up characters. Oh, and that age-old hook of the ability to rescue half-naked virgins and have them follow you around as 'pet-groupies'.

No definite price point has been revealed for the title, but we expect it to fall amongst the higher-ranged band of titles. Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes is due for release in the fourth quarter of 2009. We're certainly keeping an eye on this one.
