News: Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker

A new Guitar Hero toy has been unveiled!

The success of the Guitar Hero series, including the recently released Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock for the Wii, is phenomenal, and it can now be classified as its own genre as the fantastic original concept remains unrivalled. When Guitar Hero was first launched, who would have thought a plastic guitar with coloured buttons would have been such massive hit?

This time however the guitar has been thrown out the window and been replaced with a big belt buckle (still with the familiar Guitar Hero logo on it). Jada Toys showed off their new toy, the Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker at this week's 2008 Consumer Electronics Show. How this toy works is when you strum with the buckle's special picks they produce a note on the buckle and you have to strum to the proper tempo for it to work properly.

The belt comes with 10 different songs, 5 of them are original and the other 5 are classic rock songs. The belt includes Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water", Black Sabbath's "Iron Man", Motorhead's "Ace of Spades", Van Halen's "You Really Got Me", and Boston's "More Than a Feeling". Jada said they will be releasing cartridges in the months to follow (Dragonforce?) and it can be plugged into a mini amplifier that comes with it or put through external speakers. It will be retailing in the US for $29.99 and will be released later in March.

If there are any air guitar enthusiasts out there, buy this and get rocking! Will this catch on just like Guitar Hero? Only time will tell!
