Now you can check out the Japanese site for Q Entertainment's new music puzzler.
Right on the heels of an announcement that Bandai Namco will be publishing Q Entertainment's new puzzlers, the Japanese website has been launched. The games, based on a puzzle design from Bandai's old Wonderswan portable, will be arriving for both the DS and the PSP. You can access it here. The website is not fully accessible yet, but nevertheless has a section explaining gameplay (second link on left) as well as some downloadable backgrounds (last active link on left).
The DS version of the game in particular will focus on the system's precise stylus-based control to eliminate in-game panels and produce sound. Signature to many Q Entertainment games, music will play a huge role in the overall gameplaying experience (this will not surprise players of Q's excellent previous efforts, Meteos and Lumines.) Q Entertainment head Tetsuya Mizuguchi, famous for his days at Sega that produced such titles as Rez, will serve as executive producer for both games.
Nintendo history buffs might be tickled with the origin for the title Gunpey: it was derived from Wonderswan creator and ex-Nintendo legend Gunpei Yokoi - also the father of the Gameboy, Virtual Boy, the Metroid series among many other properties.
