If you have yet to check out the Virtual Console offerings this week, now is the time to click inside...
We're now into week two of the Hanabi Festival, a Japanese holiday which Nintendo is celebrating by giving European gamers the chance to play some titles which never made it over here on their original release (so don't say Nintendo of Europe never do anything for you!)
After a trio of Mario themed titles last week, this week has seen the release of two Ninja related games, the most famous of which is the 1989 NES classic Ninja Gaiden. In this game, players take on the role of Ryu Hayabusa on a quest across the USA looking for his missing father. This game is famed for its cinematic-style presentation and challenging action. On offer is the original North American release, available for 600 Wii Points.
Hot on its heels is 1985 Japanese Famicom title Ninja JaJaMaru-Kun (literally: 'determined little ninja'). This quirky action-platformer was hugely popular in Japan when originally released and it is a unique opportunity for European gamers to discover a little-known but much-loved game like this. Players in Ninja JaJaMaru-Kun battle their way to the top of multiple stages, dispatching enemies by throwing stars and continuing their quest to save Princess Sakura from the wicked Lord Namazu. Ninja JaJaMaru-Kun is available now for 600 Wii Points.
Also available this week, outside of the Hanabi Festival, is Turbografx sports title World Class Baseball. This sports simulation allows players to choose from a selection of twelve different teams before competing against a friend or the computer to become the ultimate baseball champ. World Class Baseball is available now for 600 Wii Points.
We'll have thorough reviews of each in our regular Virtual Console Weekly feature, out in a few days time.
