35 million Wii consoles worldwide by 2012, says Nintendo's George Harrison.
Nintendo of America's marketing chief and numbers man George Harrison has said he expects the Wii will sell a massive 35 million consoles across the United States in five years time. This figure would make it the second highest selling system of all time in America, behind the PS2 (which currently has clocked up 38 million systems sold with sales still strong a generation later).
Harrison also reported that Wii factories in China are stepping up production to meet demand. "A year ago no one thought we would be in this position," he said.
Can Nintendo meet this massive target? Only time will tell, but if sales continue as they are it is certainly achievable...
