A Metroid fan site is looking to celebrate the series' impending 25th anniversary and wants you to join in.

With the Mario franchise celebrating its 25th anniversary last year and Nintendo now focusing on the Zelda franchise's 25th anniversary this year they seem to have forgotten about Metroid. August 7th 2011 will mark 25 years since Metroid was released on the NES and Shinesparkers are ensuring that this date does not pass by unnoticed.

The website intends to compile a special video message in which fans of the series discuss their love of the franchise, which will then be shown around various websites and beyond. The specifications for the video are as follows:

Video must be between 15 and 20 seconds long (not exceeding)
You must state your name or username
State your connection to the Metroid community (member of forum, owner of blog, etc)
Your customised happy 25th anniversary Metroid tribute
Video must be e-mailed in an AVI, WMV or MP4 format
Videos must not be in any kind of zip folder and should be sent at a reasonable quality of video/audio
Limited places available, all videos must be received by 10th June 2011
