News: Heroes of Ruin Announced for 3DS

Square Enix officially announced Heroes of Ruin for the 3DS earlier today and also gave a brief insight into some of its exciting features.

In Heroes Of Ruin, players will be tasked with exploring a vast and exciting world whilst discovering its many mystical inhabitants. Square Enix also promise varied, ever-changing environments meaning new areas and routes can be discovered with every play. Players will need to build upon their combat and tactical skills as they enhance their character and meet progressively fiendish foes whilst also improving their weapons and armor in anticipation of an increasingly challenging journey.

Whilst Heroes Of Ruin can be played as a solo adventure it will also have a huge variety of wireless capabilities including 'seamless' drop-in/ drop-out co-op multiplayer, StreetPass and SpotPass.

StreetPass will be used to create a 'Traders' Network' where players can purchase and sell items collected from battles or travels whilst the SpotPass function will provide unique challenges and rare items.

"Nintendo 3DS' online and social features allow us to do so much more than multiplayer, using both StreetPass and Spot Pass to give players innovative ways of enhancing their experience"

commented Lee Singleton, General Manager for Square Enix London Studios.

It seems the fun doesn't end on your 3DS screens as the official community website will offer daily challenges and quests to players which they will be able to complete in-game. The site could also potentially be used to meet other gamers, to swap items and to team up in-game.

Heroes of Ruin will be available on the 3DS in 2012. Be sure to stay tuned as Square Enix might show the game at E3 next week!
