News: HMV Reveal Wii Shortage Frustration

The retailers have commented on how "frustrating" it was during the Christmas period with regards to Wii allocations.

HMV have gone on the record with GamesIndustry.biz to reveal how "frustrated" they were during the Christmas period regarding the Wii.

According to a HMV representitive: "Games products, particularly from the new Wii range, proved to be among our strongest performing titles - which only served to underline our sense of frustration that we did not have more units of the Wii console to sell."

"In what was a highly competitive market and despite very challenging retail conditions, HMV more than held its own - instore and online."

This frustration was probably also felt by other retailers during the holiday period. With a release of a new console so close to Christmas, and also the fact that Nintendo were launching the console in other territories around the same time, was a shortage always inevitable?
