Hudson are bringing an online version of the daddy of puzzle games to the WiiWare service!

Tetris has always been an immensely successful game series on Nintendo platforms, from Tetris on the Game Boy which sold over 33 million copies, to Tetris DS which featured online multiplayer and levels based on Nintendo games and characters. It's no surprise, then, that Hudson have announced a brand new version of Tetris for the WiiWare service.

Entitled Tetris Online, this iteration of the Russian daddy of puzzle games is developed by Hudson and looks set to be just as fantastically addictive as previous versions of the game. In addition to the usual single-player mode, there will also be a six-player mode via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, as well as a two-player co-op mode.

Classic controls are to be expected, but pointer controls and waggle have also been confirmed.

Tetris Online is penned down for a simultaneous worldwide release in summer 2008.
