News: Hudson Joins Konami

Additional purchases of shares in the the house of Bomberman by the Castlevania publisher makes them an official subsidiary.

Hudson Soft, the company that has been giving us Bomberman games for twenty years, has been facing financial problems as of late. Forecasts put the previous fiscal year's loss at a sizable $71 million. In reaction to this, the company has accepted a stock aquisition offer by Konami, increasing their stake in Hudson from 45 to 54 percent.

This would make Konami a majority shareholder, and Hudson would become a subsidiary of the Japanese publisher. Bomberman has been fading as a credible gaming hero for years now, but it's still a little depressing to see Hudson doing unsuccessfully. Still, Konami's offer will inject an approximate $13 million into the publisher.
