News: ID Games Coming To Wii Afterall?

Have id software had a sudden change in heart regarding their attitudes to the Wii?

When people utter the words id software, the images that come to mind are "gory" or "superultrarealism" (ok, maybe not that one), so it was no surprise for them to more or less neglect the Wii when news that the system was underpowered compared to its rivals emerged.

However, id seem to have had a sudden change of heart, and say that they are currently looking at ways to bring games to the Wii.

"We've looked at what would make sense, some of our older technology, to get up and going on the Wii, because people have expressed interest in licensing tech from us that would be for Wii games, so we're still figuring out how we can do that," Nix, id's director of business development explained.

"We have a bunch of brands and maybe we'll look at partnering with somebody with some of our older technology that really would push the limits of the Wii and look at our brands and which are appropriate".

So, the likes of Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein may see the light of day on Wii after all. We'll bring you more on this as it breaks.
