News: InterAct Mobile Monitor

InterAct Accessories, Inc. has designed mobile monitors for each next gen gaming platform. So, whether gaming is your favorite pastime, stress reliever or addiction, you don't have to leave your system tucked away in the entertainment center when you travel anymore. Take it with you and enjoy a summer vacation with one more comfort of home.

The current selections of mobile monitors from InterAct, a Recoton company, include the original Mobile Monitor for PS one, the Mobile Monitor 5.4 for GameCube and the Mobile Monitor for PlayStation 2. Next up is the Mobile Monitor for Xbox which is coming in September 2002. Batteries are available to power the monitors and respective consoles for PS one and GameCube.

Another accessory coming to InterAct's mobile gaming product line up is a Universal Converter and Car Adapter (MSRP $39.99), which is designed to allow any low-power 110 volt household AC device to be powered through a vehicle cigarette lighter socket. The introduction of this adapter is the last piece to making mobile gaming possible for PS2 and Xbox.

"Since the announcements about our newest mobile monitors, we've heard from our consumers and they are psyched to be able to take their consoles on the road and have the option to play their favorite video games," said Rodney Hillman, Vice President Product Development. "We are offering all the necessary equipment to take any video game system in the car, across town to Grandma's house, across the street to a friend's house, or even to take it to a vacation rental or hotel. You don't have to leave your system at home anymore when you go away."

While initially thought of as a niche product, mobile monitors have been gaining in popularity with consumers, as they seek the convenience and ease of gaming on the go. Of the five (first- and third-party) companies that offer mobile monitor products, InterAct is the market share leader with 49% of unit sales.

The screen sizes of the monitors vary from 4-inches to 5.4-inches. All come equipped with stereo speakers, headphone jacks and controls for brightness, color and volume. The Mobile Monitor for PS one and the Mobile Monitor 5.4 for GameCube are packaged with a car adapter as well.
