Nintendos iQue gaming device is to see an international release outside of the Chinese market! Retro Gaming frenzy!
An interview published on the iQue website -iQue.com, has revealed a number of exciting prospects for the future of the device inside and outside of China.
The interview with Dr Wai Yen of Nintendo and iQue in China, saw the good Doctor confirming that there are plans to release the iQue player outside of China. However, we must be quick to point out that there have been no specific countries or territories named, simply the intention to expand the consumer base of the popular product at a international level.
The iQue player is essentially an N64 in the form of a bulky N64 style joypad. It plugs into the television and allows games to be played directly from the handset. Games can be downloaded at stores and special download points throughout China onto compact flash cards designed specifically to store the games.
The whole theory behind the iQue player is to introduce piracy-proof videogaming to the Chinese. Traditionally, China has been a hotbed of piracy, which has led to most major hardware manufacturers choosing NOT to make their consoles available for sale in the country. So far, the iQue player has met with great appeal in the hands of the gaming public and great success in preventing piracy on the system.
Here's hoping for a European release!
