News: Internet Channel Update In December

The Opera Browser for the Wii is getting an update, but will it be something to sing about?

The Wii's Internet Channel is getting a long overdue update. A trial version of the Internet Channel was released in December 2006, and a full version followed in April 2007. There have been no updates to the channel as of yet however.

An updated version of the Wii Opera Browser has been announced for release in December 2008. Changes include a larger task bar with two new buttons, one for volume and the other to access your Wii mail. There will also be a tab control to allow up to six tabbed web pages at once. The most exciting news is that the upcoming microphone peripheral Wii Speak will be compatable with the new Internet Channel, though it is not yet known how it will be used. So far there has sadly been no news of an update to the Flash Player.

The Internet Channel update is due for release in December and will cost 500 Wii points but will be free for existing users. N-Europe will keep you posted on any further developments on this channel but in the meantime why not post a comment in the section below.
