Independently developed racing sim aiming to hit Nintendo's next generation platform...
We'll gladly take any morsel of Wii U news, so here's one that's kind of been brewing for a little while now.
If you're not familiar with Project CARS, it's a highly realistic racing sim with the development led by the team behind Need For Speed: SHIFT Slightly Mad Studios. We say "development led" - the novelty about Project CARS is the entire game is created with investment and physical input from the gaming community. It's a concept the developer is pioneering called World of Mass Development, where everyone who chips in gets a share of the profit when the game is released.
Project CARS itself has been looking quite impressive for a while. Slightly Mad Studios told Eurogamer last year that the plan was to have a free-to-play PC version, as well as a retail console version for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U.
Plans for a Wii U version may have accelerated, though, with the game's official website clearly showing the still-novel Wii U logo for all to see.
If a Wii U version is really on the cards, then it will curiously be one of the only third party Wii U games to be 'confirmed' at this point. We have colloquial confirmation that the likes of Darksiders II and Aliens: Colonial Marines are in the works for Wii U, but promotional material still omits all reference to Nintendo's system.
Still, with the nature of the game's development, anything could happen with Project CARS. It's due to be completed some time in 2013.
